Guideline For Teachers and Wannabe Filmmakers

Dear Teachers,

Filmjungle.eu is here to help you out when you seek for special videos showing certain species of plants or animals, or some natural phenomena.

Filmjungle.eu is a relatively young site (born in October, 2009) with an archive of several hundred species only, but surely the list of species will increase in the future. Using this site is free and fun. All you have to do is:

CLICK

Type www.filmjungle.eu in your browser.

LOOK AROUND

If you do not have any special in your mind, check out articles, new videos, selected by the scientific editors of the site.

SEARCH

To find footage about the thing you are specially interested in, just type in the name of it, and select the footage you want. The majority of our archives is currently stored on Videa.hu (a kind of Hungarian YouTube) which is a Hungarian site. For this reason, our English search motor works only in the English version of this very site narrowing down the species list you can select from. We are working hard to enable searching in English. Till then, you can find the species by typing in the SCIENTIFIC NAME of the species in the search window of Videa.hu by clicking HERE.

COLLECT

If you've got what you were looking for, click LETÖLTÉS (Download) so that you can have all the selected footage on your own computer. Please note that you can have only a low resolution, watermarked version of the given clip, due to rights restrictions.

SHARE IT

Now that you have the selected clips, all you have to do is to present it to your students. You can store individual clips in a specified folder of your computer, and show them one after the other on a lesson or a lecture. But is is also possible to edit a short film for educational purposes. All you have to do is to download one of the many free video-editing softwares and follow our guidelines, tutorial videos in the MAKE A MOVIE menu.

BECOME AN AMATEUR WILDLIFE FILMMAKER!

The main purpose of Filmjungle.eu is to share footages from every corner of the world enabling you to create your own natural history short film. According to our first experiences, kids are happy to make their own films either as a homework or simply just for fun. We all believe here that filmmaking is no longer the privilege of the professional circles. Anyone can make a wildlife film.

We encourage everyone to enjoy nature and try to document its wonders. But if you cannot go out and film for yourself, the archives of Filmjungle.eu is here. Download the images you want and enter post-production - without even noticing it. Good luck, dear future colleague of Ours!

Best Wishes,

Filmjungle.eu Crew
